Five Paper are seeking a highly organised and motivated Assistant Practice Manager to join their clerking team. This role involves supporting daily clerking operations, ensuring smooth practice management and maintaining excellent client service. Working closely with senior and junior clerks, you will handle a variety of administrative and coordination tasks. This is a dynamic position suited to someone with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Role Overview
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Director of Clerking and wider Clerks Room team in the efficient management of Chambers and the practices of all its members. A key focus is delivering a consistently high standard of service to clients, reflecting the professionalism of both individual members and Chambers as a whole.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Practice Manager with approximately two-to-three years’ of experience, looking to advance their career within a supportive and professional environment. You will gain valuable experience, working closely with Five Paper’s experienced team, contributing to the success of chambers. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Roles and Responsibilites
- Monitoring Clerks’ inbox
- Answering and dealing with incoming telephone calls/emails
- Booking Counsel for Hearings, Conferences and paperwork
- Entering Instructions/Briefs & BMIF codes on to the computer system
- Quoting and agreeing fees for junior counsel
- General diary and practice management
- Supervising and assisting the Junior Clerk as required
- Deputising for the wider Clerking team in their absence (SPM/PM)
- Arranging Mini Pupils’ time in Chambers
- Obtaining court listings for work diaries
- Liaising with HMCTS
- Maintaining good client care
- Filing documents at Court, including via CE File
- Booking and arranging couriers
- Requesting papers from solicitors and clients
- Sending dates to avoid
- First Aider and/or Fire Marshall and/or Health and Safety Officer as required (appropriate training to be provided as necessary).
